Prepare Your Talking Points

Need some pointers when talking to friends, family and the community to raise awareness about undiagnosed bleeding disorders? Here are some talking points to share and questions you can ask:

Up to 1% of women and men in the US may have a bleeding disorder and many don’t know it. That is more than the entire population of Chicago!
Von Willebrand disease (VWD), the most common bleeding disorder, occurring equally in men and women.
Many people think their symptoms are just “normal” without realizing life can be better with a diagnosis and proper treatment.
I want more people to know about bleeding disorders because they can have a huge impact on a person’s quality of life. For instance, without treatment, a life-threatening head bleed can be fatal. I want to prevent that!
